Members, Turffontein gave us a mixed but very useful worksheet result.

The day did not start perfectly from a main-betting-call point of view, and our Best Bet did not land, but the worksheet still found a number of winners in the danger and value lines.

The biggest positive was Race 5 — Prayersandpromises, who was our Next Best and got the job done. We also had some good cover results later on, with Aladdin’s Lamp, Kisshoten, Tintin, and Cold Shine all sitting inside the worksheet view.

This was not a clean betting-call card, but it was a card where the danger lines did a lot of good work.

Main Highlights

Next Best WON

Race 5 — Prayersandpromises

Prayersandpromises was our Next Best and main support bet on the card.

He got the job done and gave us the strongest official betting-call result of the day.

Race 7 Winner Found

Race 7 — Aladdin’s Lamp

Our Strong Bet was Pressonregardless, who ran 3rd, but Aladdin’s Lamp was clearly marked as the major danger.

Aladdin’s Lamp won the race, and Copper Eagle also ran 2nd from the cover line.

This was a good race read, even though the Strong Bet did not win.

Race 8 Value Runner WON

Race 8 — Kisshoten

Kisshoten was our value runner in Race 8 and won at a very nice price.

This was one of the better worksheet results of the day because the written analysis warned that the race was competitive and needed cover.

Race 9 Top Selection WON

Race 9 — Tintin

Tintin was our main selection and won.

Prince Of Kildare, Force Publique, Buddy Boy and Dark Silver also finished in the top five, giving the race a very strong worksheet shape.

Race 10 Winner Found

Race 10 — Cold Shine

Our main selection was Slender Silhouette and our Value Bet was Legendary, but Cold Shine was listed as a big danger and won the closing race.

The winner was found in the cover line, but the main value call did not deliver.

Exotic Result

The exotic structures were hurt early by the Best Bet and key anchor not winning.

The main damage points were:

Race 3 — African Pride winning
Our main selection Mount Pinatubo ran 2nd, but the winner was missed.

Race 4 — Secret Fate beaten
Secret Fate was the Best Bet and main early anchor, but Queen Leila won.

Race 7 — Pressonregardless beaten
The winner Aladdin’s Lamp was found as a danger, but the Strong Bet did not win.

The worksheet did find several winners in the cover and value lines, but the main anchors did not all stand up strongly enough to convert the bigger exotics.

Final Summary

Overall, the Turffontein worksheet produced:

Next Best — WON
Race 5 Prayersandpromises — WON
Race 1 winner found in cover
Race 2 winner found in cover
Race 6 winner found in cover
Race 7 winner found as major danger
Race 8 value runner — WON
Race 9 top selection — WON
Race 10 winner found in cover

The negatives were:

Best Bet — Beaten
Strong Bet — 3rd
Outsider Bet — Beaten
Safe Place Bet — Beaten
Value Bet — Beaten
Race 3 and Race 4 were the main damage races

This was a mixed card, but there were still good positives from the worksheet.

The main betting calls were not strong enough overall, but the danger and value lines worked well in several races. Race 8 was a strong value result with Kisshoten winning, and Race 9 was a very good system read with Tintin winning and the next four finishers all inside the worksheet view.

The lesson from the day is clear: when the Best Bet does not land, the exotics become difficult, but the cover lines still showed that the worksheet was finding plenty of live runners.

We take the positives, review the weak races, and keep improving the system.

You can never go broke making a profit.
